Most can remember hoping to get a visit from the tooth fairy during their childhood. You remember, don’t you? When children lose one of their baby teeth, the tooth is placed underneath their pillow. While the children are asleep, the tooth fairy would visit, replacing the lost tooth with a small payment. One Atlanta area dentist has her own version of the tale.
Dr. Oluwatoyin Solarin had some employees of her Care Dental practice back-date claims for patients whose Medicaid eligibility had expired. Also, some claims listed Dr. Solarin as the treating dentist on days when she was not readily available (i.e. not even in the country). These claims were submitted over a four year period from 2009 to 2013.
Recently, Dr. Solarin pled guilty to defrauding the Georgia Medicaid program of nearly $1 million.
