I enjoyed speaking to the Houston Area Residential Care Homes meeting this week.  The monthly meetings focus on providing education and networking opportunities to owners of assisted living, personal care and home health agencies.  Barbara Hoover, who has a wealth of regulatory and administrative experience, serves as one of the chapter’s officers.  The discussion centered around day-to-day operation issues that could become risk management and litigation nightmares if they are routinely ignored.  Whether it is employee discipline, facility maintenance, or consumer care, owners must be diligent in providing the care and services expected by family members and state agencies.  Expect to see great things from these owners as they provide an alternative option to skilled nursing facilities.
